Finance Bill — Charge to windfall tax — 15 Jul 1997
Patrick McLoughlin MP, West Derbyshire voted in the minority (No).
Question proposed, That the clause stand part of the Bill.
Any one-off tax increases uncertainty about the tax system. If she were here, it would interesting to hear from her what certainty there can be for companies that are privatised in future. I submit that there can be none.
Question put, That the clause stand part of the Bill:--
The Committee divided: Ayes 338, Noes 188.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (Aye)||Minority (No)||Both||Turnout|
|Con||0||147 (+2 tell)||0||91.4%|
|Lab||336 (+2 tell)||0||0||81.1%|
