Northern Ireland Bill — Status of Northern Ireland — 22 Jul 1998
Mr Martin Bell MP, Tatton voted with the majority (No).
Considered in Committee, pursuant to Order [17 July].
I beg to move amendment No. 60, in clause 1, page 1, line 10, at end insert--
'(1A) The Secretary of State shall not make an order under paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 without the Assembly giving its consent by a cross-community vote as defined in section 4(5).'.
Question put, That the amendment be made:--
The Committee divided: Ayes 10, Noes 285.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (No)||Minority (Aye)||Both||Turnout|
|DUP||0||1 (+1 tell)||0||100.0%|
|Lab||270 (+2 tell)||0||0||65.1%|
|UUP||0||6 (+1 tell)||0||70.0%|
