Mental Health Bill [HL] — services for minors. — 26 Feb 2007 at 16:01

Baroness Rendell of Babergh voted in the minority (Not-Content).

This bill is to amend the 1983 Mental Health Act

The purpose to this amendment - passed by the Lords - is to mandate the assessment of minors by a child and adolescent specialist doctor. Supervision should be by a child and adolescent mental health specialist. It also places a responsibility on health authorities to provide suitable accommodation for minors (under 18).

The primary purpose is to avoid under 18s being taken into the adult system.

Their Lordships divided: Contents, 201; Not-Contents, 126.
