Opposition Day — [5th allotted day] — Higher Education — ELQ funding — 8 Jan 2008 at 21:42
That this House is concerned that the Government's decision to withdraw funding from institutions for equivalent or lower qualification students will have a disproportionate impact on the part-time sector in general and on specific institutions such as Birkbeck and the Open University; and urges the Government to consider ways in which it can minimise the damage this measure will do to lifelong learning and the delivery of the Leitch agenda objectives.This vote is part of a destructive amendment manoeuvre. This vote is on whether the text of this original motion should remain, and the majority No vote deletes the text of the original motion. The following vote substitutes entirely different text.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (No)||Minority (Aye)||Both||Turnout|
|Con||0||174 (+2 tell)||0||90.7%|
|Lab||290 (+2 tell)||0||1||83.2%|
|David Taylor||North West Leicestershire||Lab (minister)||both|
