Banking (Special Provisions) Bill — Month or year sunset clause — 19 Feb 2008 at 21:30
Michael Fabricant MP, Lichfield voted in the minority (Aye).
The majority voted against changing the duration of powers to nationalize banks provided by Banking (Special Provisions) Bill[1] from one year[2] to one month.[3]
This provision in law is commonly known as a sunset clause. Without it, the powers conferred to the Government by the legislation continues indefinitely or until a future Act of Parliament changes it.
