The section of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill[1] to be amended (page 2, line 9)[2]originally read:
- Those entitled to vote in the referendum are—
- (a) the persons who, on the date of the referendum, would be entitled to vote as electors at a parliamentary election in any constituency, ...
The amendment proposed adding:
- 'with the exception of citizens of Commonwealth countries or, subject to sub-paragraph (c) below, of the Republic of Ireland.'.
