George Osborne MP, Tatton voted to state the generation of electricity by the AP1000 nuclear reactor is justified.
The majority of MPs voted to permit a new type of nuclear energy generation technology, agreeing its use is justified given the balance of benefits verses detriments.
The technology in question is the Westinghouse AP1000 pressurized water reactor (PWR).
The motion approved by the majority of MPs was:
- That the draft Justification Decision (Generation of Electricity by the AP1000 Nuclear Reactor) Regulations 2010, which were laid before this House on 18 October, be approved.
