The majority of members of the House of Lords rejected a proposal for a Gaelic version of the referendum question on changing the voting system for MPs to the "alternative vote" to appear on ballot papers in Scotland.
The House of Lords was considering the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill[1]. The amendment rejected in this vote was:
- Amendment 31: Clause 1, page 2, line 4, at end insert-
- "( ) In Scotland, a Gaelic version of the question is also to appear on the ballot papers."
