Scotland Bill — Clause 24 — Devolution of Power to Tax Quarrying or Mining to Scottish Parliament — 14 Mar 2011 at 18:00

Stewart Jackson MP, Peterborough voted against devolving power to the Scottish Parliament to tax quarrying and mining.

The majority of MPs voted against devolving power to the Scottish Parliament to tax quarrying and mining.

MPs were considering the Scotland Bill[1]. The amendment rejected in this vote was:

  • Amendment 58, page 16, line 17, at end insert—
  • ‘(c) Chapter 5 provides for an Order in Council to specify, as an additional devolved tax, a tax charged on quarrying or mining,’.

This new subclause would have been added to Clause 24[2] of the Bill which added provisions to devolve powers to the Scottish Parliament in relation to a range of taxes.
