The majority of MPs voted to recommend publicity by local authorities to be lawful, cost effective, objective etc.
The motion approved by the majority of MPs was:
- That the draft Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity, which was laid before this House on 11 February, be approved.
The principles of the code are:
Publicity by local authorities should:-
- be lawful
- be cost effective
- be objective
- be even-handed
- be appropriate
- have regard to equality and diversity
- be issued with care during periods of heightened sensitivity
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
