Energy Bill — Clause 42 — Energy Efficiency Requirement for Landlords of Private Rental Properties — 14 Sep 2011 at 18:00
David Laws MP, Yeovil voted against a law setting out the energy efficiency improvements landlords of private rental properties are required to make (preferring to just set a required level of energy efficiency).
The majority of MPs voted against a law setting out the energy efficiency improvements landlords of private rental properties are required to make (preferring to just set a required level of energy efficiency).
MPs were considering the Energy Bill when they voted on:
- Amendment: 4, page 28, line 7, at end insert
- ‘such that the property shall not fall below the level of energy efficiency specified in subsection (1)(c).
The amendment would have added the above text to sub clause 42(3) which described what the Secretary of State must make regulations requiring landlords of private rental properties to do, the clause stated:
- The obligation is to make to the property such relevant energy efficiency improvements as are provided for by the regulations.
The amendment would have required the Secretary of State to set out in regulations what energy efficiency improvements landlords of private rental properties are required to make (rather than just to set a required level of energy efficiency).
