Armed Forces Bill — Allow Medals Awarded by Commonwealth Governments to be Worn Without Restriction — 19 Oct 2011 at 19:30

Stephen Lloyd MP, Eastbourne voted to allow the wearing, without restriction, of medals awarded by Commonwealth Governments to present or former members of Her Majesty’s armed forces and other Crown servants.

The majority of MPs against allowing the wearing, without restriction, of medals awarded by Commonwealth Governments to present or former members of Her Majesty’s armed forces and other Crown servants.

MPs were considering the Armed Forces Bill[1]. The motion approved in this vote was:

  • that this House disagrees with Lords amendment 6.

Lords amendment 6[2] sought to introduce a new clause which itself would have inserted a new clause titled "Commonwealth Medals" into the Armed Forces Act 2006 stating:

  • "Medals awarded by Commonwealth governments, including the Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal, to present or former members of Her Majesty’s armed forces and other Crown servants may be worn without restriction.”
