Civil Aviation Bill — Clause 1 — Civil Aviation Authority — Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Duty — 25 Apr 2012 at 18:30

Stewart Jackson MP, Peterborough voted against requiring the Civil Aviation Authority to have regard to working with other bodies to meet the UK's greenhouse gas emission reduction obligations.

The majority of MPs voted against requiring the Civil Aviation Authority to have regard to working with other bodies to meet the UK's greenhouse gas emission reduction obligations.

MPs were considering the Civil Aviation Bill[1]. The amendment rejected in this vote was:

  • Amendment 3, page 2, line 17, after ‘Chapter’, insert—
  • ‘(ea) the need to work with NATS, the Secretary of State, the Committee on Climate Change and air transport service providers towards meeting the United Kingdom’s greenhouse gas emission reduction obligations as set out in the UK’s Carbon Budget, including the UK’s share of international aviation emissions’

Had the amendment not been rejected the above text would have been added to Clause 1(3) of the Bill[2]. It would have become another item in a list of matters which the Civil Aviation Authority would be required to have regard to when performing its duties.
