Draft Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Remedial) Order 2012 — Mechinism For Review of Indefinite Notification Requirements — 27 Jun 2012 at 19:32
Christopher Huhne MP, Eastleigh voted to introduce a mechanism for reviewing indefinite notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
The majority of MPs voted to introduce a mechanism for people subject to indefinite notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 to apply for a review and determination that those requirements shall cease.
The motion approved by the majority of MPs was:
- That the draft Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Remedial) Order 2012, which was laid before this House on 5 March 2012, in the previous Session of Parliament, be approved.
This law was proposed following a UK Supreme Court judgement[1] which determined the indefinite notification requirements in section 82(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 are incompatible with article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
