The majority of MPs voted to increase the rate of Air Passenger Duty from 1 April 2013. The lowest level of duty rose from £65 to £67 and the highest from £184 to £188.
The vote took place while MPs were debating the Finance Bill[1][2], the vote was on if Clause 183[3] should "stand part" of the Bill. This clause contained amendments to Section 30 of the Finance Act 1994[4] where the rates of Air Passenger Duty are set.
