Northern Ireland (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill — Clause 1 — Transparancy of Political Donations — Start Date — 9 Jul 2013 at 19:15
Patrick McLoughlin MP, Derbyshire Dales did not vote.
The majority of MPs voted against allowing ministers to order greater transparency in relation political donations in Northern Ireland, starting with those made after 1 January 2014, rather than as originally proposed, after 1 October 2014.
MPs were considering the Northern Ireland (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill. The amendment rejected in this vote was:
- amendment 7, page 2, line 25, leave out ‘October’ and insert ‘January’.
This would have affected clause 1 of the Bill which contained provisions to allow for a minister to permit or require the Electoral Commission to publish information about political donations to recipients in Northern Ireland. The Bill as introduced prevented the Minister from ordering the publication of, or otherwise increasing transparency in relation to, such donations made prior to the 1st of October 2014. This amendment sought to change the threshold to 1 January 2014.
