Recall of Elected Representatives — Power for Voters to Prompt New Election Before Term of Office Ends — 4 Dec 2013 at 13:34

Stewart Jackson MP, Peterborough voted to give voters the power to prompt a new election for an elected representative before their term of office comes to an end.

The majority of MPs voted for voters to be able to recall their elected representatives in specified circumstances. In other words to enable voters to require another election to be held part-way through an elected representative's term of office.

The motion supported by the majority of MPs voting was:

  • That leave be given to bring in a Bill to permit voters to recall their elected representatives in specified circumstances; and for connected purposes.
