Local Government Finance Report 2015-16 — Level of Revenue Support Grant — 10 Feb 2015 at 19:02

The majority of MPs voted to set the main central government grant to local government for 2015-16 at a level 25% lower than it was set for 2014-15.

The majority of MPs voted to set the "Revenue Support Grant" for local government for the financial year 2015/2016 at £9,532,747,360 and to set the ratio of local to central funding at 1:1.

The "Revenue Support Grant" for 2014-15 was £12,700,734,884^[1]

The Government have published a document^[2] stating the average reduction in councils’ "spending power" is 1.8% and "Spending power" is the fairest and most accurate way of calculating the money available for councils to provide local services. It includes funding from central government through the settlement, as well as income through fees and charges they raise, local council tax, grants, NHS funding to support social care and resources for public health, and business rates"

The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:

• That the Local Government Finance Report (England) 2015–16 (HC 1013), which was laid before this House on 3 February, be approved.
