Consumer Rights Bill — Ticket Reselling — 9 Mar 2015 at 18:15

Zac Goldsmith MP, Richmond Park voted to require ticket resellers to tell prospective buyers the original face value of a ticket and provide details of the seat / area.

The majority of MPs voted to require ticket resellers to tell prospective buyers the original face value of a ticket and provide details of the seat / area.

MPs were considering the Consumer Rights Bill[1].

The motion supported by the majority of MPs taking part in this vote was:

  • That this House agrees with Lords amendment 12J.

This amendment introduces a new clause to the Bill titled "Secondary ticketing" which requires ticket resellers and the operators of ticket reselling platforms to ensure buyers are told the face value of the tickets and details of the specific seat or standing area before they purchase the ticket.

The new clause only applies to recreational, sporting or cultural event.
