Jeremy Corbyn MP, Islington North voted against charging corporation tax in the financial year 2016-17 with a main rate of 20%.
The majority of MPs voted to charge corporation tax in the financial year 2016-17 with a main rate of 20%.
The motion approved by the majority of MPs was:
- (1) Corporation tax is charged for the financial year 2016.
- (2) For that year the main rate of corporation tax is 20%.
Paragraph 2.136 of the March 2015 budget documents states: "Corporation Tax rate – The government will legislate to set the rate of Corporation Tax at 20% for the financial year beginning on 1 April 2016. (Finance Bill 2015)
