Guy Opperman MP, Hexham voted with the majority (Teller for the Ayes).

The majority of MPs voted to enable the Government to intervene more swiftly in failing schools and to enable fewer, larger, bodies to be given responsibility for adoption.

The majority of MPs voted in favour of the Education and Adoption Bill[1] at its third reading, supporting it becoming law.

The Bill

  • Enables the Government to intervene more swiftly in failing, and "coasting", schools.
  • Enables local authorities to make arrangements for their adoption functions to be carried out by another adoption agency.
