The majority of MPs participating in this vote voted against excluding foreign nationals convicted of imprisonable offences from the United Kingdom.

MPs were considering the Foreign National Offenders (Exclusion from the UK) Bill[1]

The Bill provides for any foreign national convicted in any United Kingdom court of law of an imprisonable offence to be excluded from the United Kingdom.

Imprisonable offences are those offences where custody is included as part of the maximum sentencing power of the court.
