Owen Smith MP, Pontypridd did not vote.

The majority of MPs voted to reduce the main rate of corporation tax for the financial year 2020 from 18% to 17%.

MPs were considering the Finance Bill.[1]

The motion rejected by the majority of MPs in this vote was:

  • That the clause stand part of the Bill.

The clause in question was Clause 42[2] which was titled Rate of corporation tax for financial year 2020 and stated:

  • In section 7(2) of F(No.2)A 2015 (main rate of corporation tax for the financial year 2020) for “18%” substitute “17%”.
