Nadhim Zahawi MP, Stratford-on-Avon voted against commissioning a report on the corporation tax treatment of the UK oil and gas industry.

The majority of MPs voted against commissioning a report on the corporation tax treatment of the UK oil and gas industry.

MPs were considering the Finance Bill.[1]

The proposed new clause rejected in this vote was titled: Corporation tax treatment of the oil and gas industry and stated:

  • The Chancellor of the Exchequer shall, within six months of the passing of this Act, commission a comprehensive review of the corporation tax rates and investment allowances applicable to companies producing oil and gas in the UK or on the UK continental shelf, and publish the report of the review.

The question rejected in this vote was:

  • That the clause be read a Second time.
