MPs were considering the Savings (Government Contributions) Bill.
The amendment rejected by the majority of MPs in this vote was:
- Amendment 2, page 17, line 36, at end insert “(d) a credit union.”
Had it not been rejected the amendment would have added credit unions to the list of those eligible to become an "authorised account provider" for the provision of "Help to Save" accounts in Schedule 2 of the Bill.
"Help to Save" accounts will be eligible for a 50% government bonus on up to £50 of monthly savings; with a caps on government bonuses of £1,200 per person over two years.
