Part 3 (Access to Services) of the Immigration Act 2016 restricts access to banking services in the United Kingdom for certain people who are not lawfully entitled to enter or remain in the country.

The regulations supported by the majority of MPs in this vote set out requirements for immigration checks and Home Office notification to be followed by banks and building societies.

The regulations exclude accounts operated by or for an individual who is acting, with respect to the account, for the purposes of a trade, business or profession from the immigration check and reporting requirements.

The regulations also provide for monitoring of compliance and enforcement by the Financial Conduct Authority.[1]
