Mark Prisk MP, Hertford and Stortford voted to allow electoral pilot schemes for trialling new ways of running elections to be run during combined authority mayoral elections and to only allow those on the on register of electors on the last day of the publication of the notice of election to nominate candidates in combined authority mayoral elections.
The majority of MPs voted to allow electoral pilot schemes for trialling new ways of running elections to be run during combined authority mayoral elections and to only allow those on the on register of electors on the last day of the publication of the notice of election to nominate candidates in combined authority mayoral elections.
The motion supported by the majority of MPs taking part in this vote was:
- That the draft Combined Authorities (Mayoral Elections) (Amendment) Order 2017, which was laid before this House on 13 November, be approved.
The motion was supported by the majority of all MPs, and the majority of MPs representing constituencies in England and Wales.
An example of an electoral pilot scheme is a trial of requiring voters "to show ID before they can vote".
