Free School Lunches and Milk, and School and Early Years Finance — 13 Mar 2018 at 18:10
Wayne David MP, Caerphilly voted to oppose the threshold of £7,400 of earned income per year under which there is eligibility for free school lunches and milk as well as the early years pupil premium.
The majority of MPs voted to support the threshold of £7,400 of earned income per year under which there is eligibility for free school lunches and milk as well as the early years pupil premium.
The explanatory memorandum accompanying the regulations being considered[2] noted:
- A typical family earning around this threshold, depending on their exact circumstances, would have a total annual household income of between £18,000 and £24,000 once benefits are taken into account.
The motion rejected by the majority of MPs taking part in this vote, and the majority of MPs representing English constituencies, was:
- That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, praying that the Free School Lunches and Milk, and School and Early Years Finance (Amendments Relating to Universal Credit) (England) Regulations 2018 (S.I., 2018, No. 148), dated 6 February, a copy of which was laid before this House on 7 February, be annulled.
The regulations were part of the transition from the previous benefits regime to "Universal Credit".
