The majority of MPs, and the majority of MPs representing constituencies in England, voted in favour of the family net earned income threshold of £15,400 per annum, under which the state funds fifteen hours of early education for two year olds.
The motion rejected in this vote was:
- That an humble Address be presented to Her Majesty, praying that the Local Authority (Duty to Secure Early Years Provision Free of Charge) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 (S.I., 2018, No. 146), dated 6 February, a copy of which was laid before this House on 7 February, be annulled.
The transition to the "Universal Credit" benefits system had made all those entitled to "Universal Credit" eligible for state funded early education for two year olds.
