Assessment of the impact of the European Union Withdrawal Agreement — 26 Mar 2019 at 17:58

The majority of MPs voted not to require the publication of an assessment of the impact of the Withdrawal Agreement and the Framework for the Future Relationship with the European Union on the United Kingdom’s economic and fiscal position but to support the Government's assessment of the UK's medium term economic and budgetary position for submission to the European Commission

MPs were considering a motion stating:

The amendment rejected in this vote was:

  • amendment (a), in line 1, leave out from “House” to end, and add
  • declines to approve for the purposes of section 5 of the European Communities (Amendment) Act 1993 the Government’s assessment of the medium term economic and fiscal position as set out in the latest Budget document and the Office for Budget Responsibility’s most recent Economic and Fiscal outlook and Fiscal Sustainability Report, because it does not contain detailed analysis of the impact of the Withdrawal Agreement and the Framework for the Future Relationship with the EU on the UK’s economic and fiscal position; and
  • calls on the Government to publish an assessment containing that analysis immediately.”
