Adoption and Children Bill — [3rd Allotted Day] — Clause 131 — General interpretation, etc. — 20 May 2002 at 19:30
Tony Blair MP, Sedgefield did not vote.
This amendment to the Adoption and Children Bill would have allowed unmarried heterosexual couples to adopt children. (Homosexual couples were specifically excluded.) The no-voters defeated this amendment.
The House divided: Ayes 174, Noes 301.
Votes by party, red entries are votes against the majority for that party.
What is Tell? '+1 tell' means that in addition one member of that party was a teller for that division lobby.
What are Boths? An MP can vote both aye and no in the same division. The boths page explains this.
What is Turnout? This is measured against the total membership of the party at the time of the vote.
|Party||Majority (No)||Minority (Aye)||Both||Turnout|
|Con||0||127 (+2 tell)||0||78.7%|
|Lab||263 (+2 tell)||35||2||73.7%|
