This bill is to amend the 1983 Mental Health Act
The purpose to this amendment - passed by the Lords - is to mandate the assessment of minors by a child and adolescent specialist doctor. Supervision should be by a child and adolescent mental health specialist. It also places a responsibility on health authorities to provide suitable accommodation for minors (under 18).
The primary purpose is to avoid under 18s being taken into the adult system.
