Scotland Bill — Clause 24 — Devolution of Power to Tax Quarrying or Mining to Scottish Parliament — 14 Mar 2011 at 18:00
The majority of MPs voted against devolving power to the Scottish Parliament to tax quarrying and mining.
MPs were considering the Scotland Bill[1]. The amendment rejected in this vote was:
- Amendment 58, page 16, line 17, at end insert—
- ‘(c) Chapter 5 provides for an Order in Council to specify, as an additional devolved tax, a tax charged on quarrying or mining,’.
This new subclause would have been added to Clause 24[2] of the Bill which added provisions to devolve powers to the Scottish Parliament in relation to a range of taxes.
