Prohibition on Emergency Service and Transport Strikes Withouth Majority of Employees in Unionised Workforce Voting For Action — 26 Apr 2011 at 17:43

The majority of MPs voted against prohibiting strike action in the emergency and transport service sectors unless a majority of employees in the unionised workforce has voted in favour of such action.

The motion rejected in this vote was:

  • That leave be given to bring in a Bill to prohibit strike action in the emergency and transport service sectors unless a majority of employees in the unionised workforce has voted in favour of such action;
  • to make procedural provision in relation to balloting for industrial action;
  • and for connected purposes.
