Devolving Responsibility for Jobcentre Plus to the Welsh Government — 21 Jun 2011 at 17:09

The majority of MPs voted against devolving responsibility for Jobcentre Plus to the Welsh Government.

Jobcentre Plus is part of the Department for Work and Pensions. It has a role in providing welfare benefits to people of working age and providing services to those seeking work.

The motion rejected by the majority of MPs in this vote was:

  • That leave be given to bring in a Bill to require the Secretary of State to make provision for the transfer to the Welsh Government of certain functions relating to the work of Jobcentre Plus offices in Wales; and for connected purposes.
