Consumer Rights Bill — New Clause 13 — Labelling of Halal and Kosher Meat — 13 May 2014 at 18:45
Simon Hart MP, Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire voted against requiring products containing halal and kosher meat to be labelled as such.
The majority of MPs voted against requiring products containing halal and kosher meat to be labelled as such.
MPs were considering the Consumer Rights Bill[1]. The text of the proposed new clause rejected in this vote was:
- Goods to be as described: meat products
- ‘(1) All products containing halal and kosher meat shall be labelled as such at the point of sale by retail and food outlets.
- (2) A food outlet is anywhere where food is served to the public.’.
