The regulations set out details of the new state pension introduced by the Pensions Act 2014 including[1]:

  • how the weekly rate at which a pension is paid will increase by if the date of starting to claim it is deferred.
  • transitional arrangements for dealing with inherited retirement benefits from a spouse or civil partner.
  • continuing the long-standing policy of not up-rating the state pension in payment to people who are "overseas residents" except for people in countries where a reciprocal agreement is in place.
