  • The Airports NPS provides the primary basis for decision making on development consent applications for a Northwest Runway at Heathrow Airport, and will be an important and relevant consideration in respect of applications for new runway capacity and other airport infrastructure in London and the South East of England.

The document concludes in paragraph 3.75:

  • the Government considers that the Heathrow Northwest Runway scheme delivers the greatest strategic and economic benefits, and is therefore the most effective and appropriate way of meeting the needs case

The approved document sets out planning policy considerations for the proposed development, covering subjects including waste management, impact on Immigration Removal Centres, security, air quality, noise, carbon emissions and many more.
