Parliamentary Buildings (Restoration and Renewal) Bill — The Parliamentary Works Sponsor Body — Economic Benefits Across the Nations and Regions — 19 Jun 2019 at 16:00

The majority of MPs voted for economic benefits of the Parliamentary building works to be delivered across the nations and regions of the United Kingdom, in terms of contracts for works and in any other way the Sponsor Board considers appropriate.

MPs were considering the Parliamentary Buildings (Restoration and Renewal) Bill[1]

The amendment accepted in this vote was:

  • Amendment proposed: 4, page 2, line 46, at end insert—
  • “(h) the need to ensure that economic benefits of the Parliamentary building works are delivered across the nations and regions of the United Kingdom, in terms of contracts for works and in any other way the Sponsor Board considers appropriate.”

the amendment added an additional subclause to clause 2(2) of the Bill, setting out an additional duty for the Parliamentary Works Sponsor Body.

The amendment unusually resulted in two sections denoted (f).
