The majority of MPs voted to infer that the late provision of information by a potential slavery or trafficking victim damages that person’s credibility.

The amendment rejected in this vote was:

• Amendment 128, page 57, line 25, leave out clause 58.

Clause 58^[2] was titled: Late compliance with slavery or trafficking information notice: damage to credibility and included the following key operative subclause:

• In determining whether to believe a statement made by or on behalf of the person, the competent authority must take account, as damaging the person’s credibility, of the late provision of the relevant status information, unless there are good reasons why the information was provided late.

The motion rejected in this vote was:

• That the amendment be made.
