Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill — Continuation of Consideration of the Bill — 17 Jan 2011 at 33:01

The majority of members of the House of Lords voted to continue their consideration of the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill.

The House of Lords was considering the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill[1]. The motion rejected in this vote, ten past nine in the morning after the debate had continued all night, was:

  • That the House do now resume.

Had it been passed this motion would have resulted in the House of Lords stopping its consideration of the Bill; as it was the consideration continued, punctuated by a number of votes to stop the debate, until just before 1pm the day after it started[2].
