Planning Bill — Policy must mitigate and adapt to Climate Change — rejected — 6 Nov 2008 at 16:44
The majority of the Lords voted against requiring the National Policy Statement[1] made by the Minister to "contribute to the mitigation of and to the mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change and to the achievement of sustainable development"[2]
A similar vote was also lost in the House of Commons earlier in the year.[3] This establishes the case that national planning policy need not take account of mitigation or adaptation to the challenge of climate change.
