London Local Authorities Bill — Closure of Debate on Amendments — 21 Feb 2012 at 21:30

The majority of MPs voted to bring a debate on more powers for local authorities in London to a close.

MPs were considering the London Local Authorities Bill. The motion supported by the majority of MPs in this vote was:

  • That the Question be now put.

Once this motion was passed it brought the debate on amendments 22, 23, 24, 61, 41, 63, 25 to 27, 64, 28, 42, P1, 29, 30, 43, 66, 67, 44, 45, 69 to 74, 31, 75, 46, 47, 32, 48, 49, P2, 33, 60, 51, 76, 52 to 54, 77 to 82, 55, 34, 56 to 58 and P40 to an end.

The Bill sought to confer further powers on local authorities in London including:

  • the issuing of penalty charges for littering and dog-related offences
  • miscellaneous provisions related to public health, environmental protection and highways
  • provision for local authorities to serve management orders on owners of houses in multiple occupation that require maintenance
  • changes to the powers of entry by ‘appropriate officers’ to houses
  • miscellaneous provisions for the licensing of premises.
