Nuclear Power — Welcomes the role of civil nuclear power — 17 Jan 2006 at 21:59

The majority of MPs voted for the motion:[1]

  • This House
  • welcomes the recent announcement of an energy review to assess future options on both the supply and demand for energy including the role of civil nuclear power; and
  • notes the Government's energy policy as set out in the 2003 Energy White Paper,[2] to make progress towards the goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 60% by 2050, to maintain the reliability of energy supplies, to promote competitive markets in the UK and beyond and to ensure that every home is adequately and affordably heated.

This replaced a motion which was previously voted down by the majority of MPs.[3]
