London Local Authorities Bill — Closure of Debate on Street Litter Control Notices — 25 Jan 2012 at 16:30

The majority of MPs voted to bring their debate on if it ought be possible to issue a street litter control notice in respect of all non-domestic premises rather than just commercial or retail premises to a close.

A street litter control notice imposes requirements on occupiers of premises in relation to such litter or refuse. Requirements must relate to the clearing of litter or refuse from the specified area and can, for example, require the provision of, and emptying of, receptacles for litter or refuse.

MPs were considering an amendment to remove clause 5 of the London Local Authorities Bill which states:

This division was on if the debate ought be brought to a close, it having had gone on for around two hours.
