Public Service Pensions Bill — Clause 9 — Pension Age For Pensions Relating to Public Service in Scotland — 4 Dec 2012 at 18:00
Jennifer Willott MP, Cardiff Central voted with the majority (Teller for the Noes).
The majority of MPs voted to link the pension age for pensions relating to public service in Scotland with the state pension age.
MPs were considering the Public Service Pensions Bill.[1] The amendment rejected in this vote was:
- Amendment: 29, page 5, line 21, after ‘section 1’, insert ‘(other than a Scottish scheme)’
This would have affected Clause 9(1) of the Bill[2] which at the time of the vote stated:
- The normal pension age of a person under a scheme under section 1 must be—
- (a) the same as the person’s state pension age, or
- (b) 65, if that is higher.
The impact would be not to apply the above subclause to Scotland, consequently exempting pensions relating to public service in Scotland from the requirement that new schemes should link pension age with state pension age.
