The majority of MPs voted against proposed reforms to the House of Lords including:
- Allowing members of the House of Lords to retire or resign.
- Making those who do not attend for a whole session lasting more than six months (without permission) cease to be members.
- Removing those convicted of a serious offence from the House of Lords.
