Consumer Rights Bill — New Clause 13 — Labelling of Halal and Kosher Meat — 13 May 2014 at 18:45

The majority of MPs voted against requiring products containing halal and kosher meat to be labelled as such.

MPs were considering the Consumer Rights Bill[1]. The text of the proposed new clause rejected in this vote was:

  • Goods to be as described: meat products
  • ‘(1) All products containing halal and kosher meat shall be labelled as such at the point of sale by retail and food outlets.
  • (2) A food outlet is anywhere where food is served to the public.’.
