English Votes on English Laws — 7 Jul 2015 at 15:42

The majority of MPs voted to reject a motion stating the House of Commons has considered the implementation of a policy of English votes on English laws.

The motion rejected by the majority of MPs in this vote was:

  • That this House
  • has considered the means by which the Government seeks to deliver the objectives outlined by the Leader of the House in his Statement on English Votes on English Laws.

This motion appears to have been tabled to enable a debate on the subject of English votes on English laws.

A vote either way on the motion does not appear to clearly suggest an MP is taking a particular stance on the substantive matter.
