The majority of MPs voted against giving the Scottish Parliament the power to call a referendum on Scottish independence.

MPs were considering the Scotland Bill[1].

The amendment rejected in this vote stated:

  • This new clause would permit the Scottish Parliament to decide whether and when to hold a referendum on Scottish independence.
